The Bong Joon-ho story Snowpiercer about an apocalyptic train has been moving slowly on its path to cable television but WarnerMedia finally announced a target premiere date as well as news that the show will be getting a second season.
During the WarnerMedia upfront presentation at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday the audience was treated to a preview of the show, which stunned everyone who saw it. WarnerMedia CEO John Stankey then announced that Snowpiercer will debut in spring 2020, and that it will have a second season order ahead of its premiere.
That wasn’t the only news, though. Snowpiercer was originally intended for TNT and Stankey revealed that the show was heading to TBS instead. It will be one of the network’s only non-comedy, debuting at the end of the 2020 NCAA Basketball Tournament.
Snowpiercer, which stars Jennifer Connelly and Daveed Diggs, is the story of a train full of survivors as they wander through a frozen wasteland seven years after the collapse of civilization and the advent of another Ice Age.
