Interview with the Vampire S1E7 Finale Recap: The Thing Lay Still

Entertainment, Recaps and Previews Comments Off on Interview with the Vampire S1E7 Finale Recap: The Thing Lay Still

We’ve arrived at the season finale of the series, what amounts essentially to the first half of Louis’s story in the novel.

As Episode 7 “The Thing Lay Still” opens, time has passed and the happy citizens of New Orleans have begun to notice the oddities of the Rue Royale house, and its eternally young residents. When a stranger arrives at the door requesting a cure for his cancer, the writing is on the wall. The jig is up. They decide to leave the city.

Claudia convinces Lestat that they need to host one last memorable party for Mardi Gras. She throws herself into planning a lavish event, making sure that Lestat is the center of attention. Little does he know she is planning to use it as a distraction to kill himself once and for all. Her plan, to poison a guest so his blood is poison when Lestat feeds on him. But when the time comes to slit his throat, Louis hesitates. He also refuses to burn the body, opting to bring it to the dump instead.

As Louis recounts the events to Daniel in Dubai, the latter recognizes the discreptancies in his story and calls him out on his inability to end Lestat’s life. “The dump is full of rats” he says, “Enough blood in them to bring back the dead, especially one in a trunk with locks on the inside. You knew it, Louis. You had to. The biggest rat eater of them all.”

Did Louis intentionally save Lestat? And if so, where is Lestat now?

As we continue in the present day we see Daniel is close to his breaking point. Both his physical and mental health seem to be crumbling and he’s tortured by what seems like a failing memory. As the interview dissolves into chaos, Rashid comes forward, levitating from the ground and hovering over Daniel menacingly. Louis, smugly, introduces him to Daniel: He is the Vampire Armand, the love of Louis’s life.

Season 2 of Interview with the Vampire premieres May 12th, 2024. Stay tuned to Dark Media for all the latest updates!
