New Trailers Released for ‘21 Days’ Movie

Entertainment Articles Comments Off on New Trailers Released for ‘21 Days’ Movie

The first teaser and theatrical trailers have been released for the upcoming paranormal thriller, 21 DAYS. The film was written, directed and produced by first time feature helmer, Kathleen Behun, and was co-produced by Jessica Villegas Lattuada and Fernando Barreda Luna, the team behind the Spanish cult horror film, ATROCIOUS.

The film centers on a presumed haunted house in which no one has been able to live in for more than 21 days. Three filmmakers decide to accept the challenge and barricade themselves in the house so that they can film the reported phenomena surrounding the legend of the house. Unfortunately, they get more than they bargained for.

DarkMedia.com recently spoke with Kathleen Behun about the film, it’s place in the found footage genre and any comparisons to a certain Paranormal franchise.

On what sets this film apart from other films in the “found footage” genre:

First the film never “announces” itself as found footage. The story is simply told, without any opening titles explaining the narrative or the characters because I believe the audience is so much smarter than that. As a filmmaker, I don’t want to spell everything out for the audience because, in reality, most filmgoers don’t want to be spoon-fed information. I think part of what makes watching a film entertaining and compelling is trying to figure out what’s happening.

On what inspired her to write this particular film:

I’ve long been intrigued by some of the paranormal investigator shows on television, the ones where they lock themselves inside a reportedly haunted house for a night, hoping to capture on video some sort of paranormal occurrence. I thought, one night would be scary to be locked inside a haunted location but even longer, say 21 DAYS, without any way of getting out would be absolutely terrifying. To place characters in that sort of environment, it conjured up the image of rats in a maze, desperately trying to get out, but can’t. So what do they do? They begin to turn on one another.

What would she say to people who assume this is “just another Paranormal Activity”?:

Watch the film! (Oh believe me Kathleen! We will!)

21 DAYS will be hitting the festival circuit and DarkMedia.com will post festival information for screenings as it becomes available. While the trailer certainly doesn’t give anything away, it does spark the curiosity for those of us anxious to see what can happen when you lock three people in a haunted house for that long. Will they go crazy? Will they turn on each other? Or will the evil of the house slowly consume them all?
