A child arrives on earth and soon his new parents discover that he has superpowers. People familiar with the Superman story know that the future Man of Steel grew up to become an upstanding citizen out to help the people of Earth. The movie Brightburn challenges that idea by asking the big question: What if he wasn’t here to help people?
Brandon Beyer has powers. His parents know about them and they have tried to keep them under the radar, but soon Brandon decides that he’s not going to stay quiet about his abilities. He wants to show the world who he is, and he wants people to fear him.

Brightburn, which comes courtesy of Guardians of the Galaxy’s James Gunn and his talented family (brothers Brian and Mark have been credited as writers), explores the darker side of what would happen if someone came to earth and decided to use their superpowers for evil. It’s a novel concept that will no doubt spark conversation among comic book fans. The simple fact is that this child has no reason to fight for the good guys and he knows there’s no one who can stop him. With nothing standing in his way, who will stop him?
