(I Loathe You) For Sentimental Reasons
Original Air Date: Monday February 6, 2012
Season 2, Episode 4

Our three favorite roommates find themselves this week caught between their individual issues and the limitations they believe they must abide by. Aidan flashes back to his sordid love affair with Suren in the past, Sally must handle jealousy with grace, and Josh must stand his ground when approached by a tempting offer.

This Sucks!

The agonizing torture of self inflicted starvation has reached a boiling point with Aidan. He finds himself feeding off of the Blood Den with a lady named Tracy. When Tracy’s well of blood dries up in her, she assures him that he can return later to feed off of Darla. Aidan heads to Suren’s hotel and is introduced to a gruff, but tough man that promises them that he can offer the Boston clan of vampires influence over politicians, judges and also the willingness to clean up the bodies that sloppy orphan vampires have been leaving, all for the price of turning him into a vampire .Aidan feels that this man will take advantage of being immortal and can’t be trusted with so much power. Suren is growing impatient of Aidan’s lack of enthusiasm to help her take quick control over Boston. She is also disappointed that Aidan refuses to feed and has become weak.

Through a series of flashbacks that take place in Boston in 1930, we see that Suren and Aidan had a passionate love/hate relationship. Aidan had always refused Suren’s attempts of having him love her. Mother would have forbid a relationship between the two. A vampire named Henry had also encouraged Aidan to seal a relationship with her since he believed they would all benefit with a life of luxury. When Aidan finally decides to give his heart to Suren, he walks in on Henry and her in bed together. Resorting to jealousy, Aidan grabbed a wooden stake and tried to kill Henry, knowing full well that Henry’s only intentions with Suren is to access her wealth and power. Suren blocked Aidan, and told him that she has now chosen Henry.

Back to present time and Aidan has finally agreed to let in the mobster man in on immortality. Aidan begins to feed in a desperate drinking frenzy with his blood. As Suren joins in, Aidan launches at her and they furiously make sweet bloody love together.

This Blows!

Sally develops a close relationship with the ghost communicator, Zoe. She begs to be reincarnated after she explains to Zoe that she has not seen the dark entity that has followed her in two weeks. Still unconvinced, Zoe invites Sally to attend a ghost group therapy session she hosts. Sally attends and is pleasantly surprised to see an old flame, Nick, there. Although Sally had tried coaching Zoe into talking to one of the new doctors at the hospital, she is completely floored when she learns that Zoe and Nick are in love with each other. The only thing Sally can do is graciously accept the relationship. Completely jealous of the euphoric feeling of being in love, Sally ‘takes on’ and enters a woman that is in the middle of kissing the new cute doctor. We see a foreshadowing of this becoming a new bad habit of Sally’s.

Born This Way

Josh is hard at work at the hospital when a woman named Brynn desperately demands that he release her brother from the Psych ward. She shares with him the fact that she and her brother are werewolves, and she can tell he is one too. If he remains in the hospital he will wolf-out on them all since the full moon is  only a couple of days away. Josh releases him and thinks he is done with the family until they corner him later that night and have him join them at a night club.

The twin wolves, Brynn and Connor tell Josh that they are full-breed werewolves. Even Connor must snort an herb called aconite to calm down his inner wolf. Josh lets them in on the fact that he is researching a cure to their curse. Connor and Brynn offer to help fund the research, but Josh is hesitant. After much prodding from Aidan, Josh decides to take the twins to his lab/storage. The siblings get excited when Josh reveals that he theorizes that he can find a way to turn off the wolf effects and also become a wolf permanently. The twins fess up to their intentions to stay in wolf form for always. Josh knows that this means they will kill and it doesn’t sit right with him. After thinking about it for a long time Josh caves in because he simple can’t resist receiving money to help him find a cure.

Quotable Quotes:

Josh to Sally: “Weird Zoe and the hot Doc? That’s like Jack Bauer dating Chloe. It’s like you kind of want to see it, but not really.”

Suren to Aidan: “Mother’s going to be pissed.”

Josh Narrating: “We put so much work into hiding what’s really there…A new coat of paint on rotted wood; creative accounting; the comb-over; but then you realize that you’ve spent so much time crafting,…in the end, the only person your lie ever fools…is you.”

Sally to Nick: “What is that about, really? And you have like, 50 years before either of you can get any ghost nookie.”
