Webtoon: Empowering Comic Creators in a Digital World

Book Reviews Comments Off on Webtoon: Empowering Comic Creators in a Digital World

Have you ever had an idea for a comic? Do you already have an original comic but don’t know how to get it out into the world? Have no fear, Webtoon is here! Webtoon is an app that allows artists and writers to bypass the hectic world of mass market comic publishing. Posting new content on a daily basis puts your books into the hands of the fans first.

Webtoon is a platform that promotes creativity and providing access to said creativity for anyone and everyone. Dark Media Online had the opportunity to be immersed in this creator focused environment during San Diego Comic Con at the Webtoon Green Room party at the Altitude Sky Lounge. I’ve attended a lot of SDCC after parties and I must say this one was equal parts fun and impressive. Being at a rooftop party surrounded by dozens of artists, writers and various innovative talents is an exciting setting to be in as a fan of all things comics.

With an average 40 million monthly readers Webtoon is the #1 digital comics app out there. The extensive library ranges from comedy to romance, superhero to historical, horror to sports and everything in between. Some of the comics use the FX Toon tool to include original music and clever animation. One of my personal favorites, Cyko-KO, incorporates this amazing feature to bring you even further into the story.

After just one hour on Webtoon I was hooked. I’m currently reading Cyko-KO by Robert Feldman, Lavender Jack by Dan Schkade and The Badguys by Luke Lancaster and Orlando Caicedo. You can subscribe to your favorites to keep them just a click away.

Look for Webtoon your Android and iOS devices as well as your favorite web browser. Seeking something to read on your lunch break? Or do you want someone to read your comic on their lunch break? Download Webtoon now and let the adventure begin.
