Season 3 Episode 22
Favorite Quote: “You want a love that consumes you. You want passion, and adventure and even a little danger.” –Damon
All the events from the kisses to the drama have lead us to the season 3 finale, and there will be some choices that need to be made and possibly some hearts broken in the process. The episode starts with Elena having a dream about what life was when she was the happy cheerleader type only to wake to find herself in the hospital and in possible danger. Alaric shows up to Meredith after treating Elena, and requests the release of Elena into his custody–only to find out that Jeremy has already gotten her home. And, as always, Damon and Stefan (on their way to dispose of Klaus’s body) are worried about Elena’s safety. There are more dreams about their sophomore year and she realizes these dreams of the past are trying to tell her what to do in her future. She knows she has to let either Stefan or Damon go but she’s not sure which one.
Alaric is trying to play the protective guardian while using Jeremy to get rid of the vampires in Elena’s life, and wants to know where Klaus’s body is now. Elijah wants to waken Klaus to help stop Alaric, and allow Elena to live out her life safely. Meanwhile, Damon is on the phone from the car trying to protest but no one seems to be listening to him. The information that Matt has Jeremy, pretending to be on board, misinforms Alaric of where Klaus’s body. Rebekah and Elijah not happy with what happened with Klaus think it’s best to kill Alaric–and they know there is only one way to do that. And that’s through Elena.
Caroline and Tyler’s mothers decide it’s best to send them away so they can’t be hurt. This because Alaric informed the town council about them and using the fear of the council to his cause of ridding the town of vampires. Tyler wants nothing more than to protect Caroline, and convinces her to leave…but after they help the rest of the group out first. Caroline is very much worried that this will be the end of Tyler, but he only wants her to be happy in the rest of her life. If there is any moment for the wolf to kick in, it’s now.
Damon (again) enlists team Bonnie to deal with Klaus’s body in the storage locker, but she would like nothing more to destroy him for everything he’s done to the people around her. After Bonnie leaves, Damon waits on Rebekah to pick up the body, but Alaric seems to have been wise of the plan. Alaric is on a mission to find the body, and now it’s time to wait and see if Klaus was really the sire of their bloodline. Damon hears what he’s always known and at this point, and doesn’t care what Alaric might do to him despite knowing the fact that he did meet Elena first. And because of Bonnie’s help with Klaus she does something to protect the bloodlines preventing them from dying with him.
Elena continues to struggle not only with having to choice between the Salvatore brothers but also with losing any more people that she cares about. Stefan makes her feel safe and protected like the night that Stefan saved her. On the other hand Damon shakes her up, and is the adventure she might need in life. She confides all of this in Matt, only for him to surprise her by drugging her so he can get her out of town and be safe. Finally, the ultimate choice is in front of Elena either keep driving and possibly bid her farewell to Damon or turn back to say goodbye to Stefan but the group rules out one. And we hear the truth that is too hard to take. As well as the injuries were worst as Meredith previously told everyone so never trust a doctor that uses vampire blood to ‘heal’ her patients.
Season four of The Vampire Diaries has been confirmed by The CW, and will begin to air Fall 2012.
