Review:

My two favorite sub-genres of horror are haunted house and demon possession movies.  I absolutely love them for the simple reason they really tend to scare me.  As I have said so many times before, true fear is like adrenaline to me.  To be honest, I have never experienced a haunting of any sort… nor have I seen someone actually possessed by a demon.  That is not a requirement for me to believe it might actually happen in this day and time.  The movie begins with the introduction to a fairly good sized box on a mantle of an older woman’s home.  The box has Hebrew writing all over it.  The older woman hears voices coming from the box and fear is evident on her face.  She gets a hammer and decides to bust the box apart.  She never gets the chance before the demon’s power tosses her around like a rag doll.  We are then introduced to the Jeffrey Dean Morgan character and his estranged family.  We see that Morgan’s character lives in a new home and has his two young daughters on the weekends.  He has been recently divorced from the Kyra Sedgwick character.  He’s a basketball coach and that has taken him from his family on many occasions and that seems to be one reason for the split in the family.  The youngest daughter (Natasha Calis) is your typical young girl with a tremendous desire to protect animals and is a vegetarian.  One day when they were with their dad going to his home, they decide to stop at a yard sale.  The youngest daughter is attracted to the strange box and asks her dad to buy it for her.  This is where things begin to get very creepy.  Without going into too much detail, it is revealed that the box is a trap for a very evil demon.  The acting is great… Natasha Calis is very convincing as the demon possessed child.  Many of the things you see in other demon passion movies were evident in this movie.  However, it wasn’t a movie where they tried to slap it in your face with so many contorted victims or other “tricks” that Hollywood has.  There is a lot of tension and very many jumps out of your seat moments.  This movie was so well made.  Storyline and acting was so well done!  The movie begins and ends with your total attention.  Moves well and never loses you.  I highly recommend this movie!  It is well worth a watch!  Check out the trailer below!
