Teen Wolf: “Wolfies” Howl for Charity and a Chance to Visit Beacon Hills

Entertainment News Comments Off on Teen Wolf: “Wolfies” Howl for Charity and a Chance to Visit Beacon Hills

by Kylie Klein:

It’s been a long dark hiatus for fans of MTV’s flagship supernatural drama Teen Wolf (now in production on its third season), but they are as passionate as ever.

Wolfies joined forces under the Sterek Campaign banner — the portmanteau name fans have given the bromance between supporting characters Alpha wolf Derek Hale (Tyler Hoechlin) and human sidekick Stiles Stilinski (Dylan O’Brien) — to provide the cast with “welcome back” cookies, branded with the campaign’s logo and pictures of the cast.

The delighted cast took to Twitter and Instagram to share pictures of themselves with their doppelgänger treats.

Proving that Wolfies have soft hearts, the campaign rallied the pack again in December, this time for charity.

By auctioning fan fiction and art commissions, the Wolf Pack Charity Project raised almost $8000 for Wolf Haven International, a sanctuary for the conservation and protection of wolves in their natural habitat, on behalf of writer Jeff Davis and the show.

Online contributor TheLadyAndTheWolf said on the Sterek Campaign’s Tumblr page:

I have to admit, I am uncontrollably excited about what the Teen Wolf fandom managed to do thanks to the Sterek Campaign.

Who would have thought that this –  just a show about teenage werewolves  – could achieve such a beautiful thing?

We gathered, strangers from different continents, of different ages, with different expectations in life, and we acted as one to help the wolves.

I’m just gonna say I’ve never been more happy to be a part of this fandom.

A post on Wolf Haven’s Facebook page said: “Your generous support, through direct donations and auction bids, is going to directly affect the lives of the Wolf Haven Intl wolves. You are amazing and we are so very grateful.”

The Sterek Campaign intends future “calls to love” projects to “show support for (show frontrunner) Jeff Davis.”

The powers that be down at the Teen Wolf den have always cultivated close ties with the fans.

Last season, the MTV team invited fans to submit audition tapes for a one off walk-on role. The role was won by Shantal Rhodes. Rhodes became a fan favorite and returns in a regular role for season three.

MTV’s Alpha pack have done it again this winter, hosting another walk-on audition contest at their Facebook Page. Submissions have already closed, but you can watch the auditions there and cast votes for your favorites.
