SDCC 2013: Teen Wolf Panel Recap and the Season 3B Premiere Date

Entertainment News, San Diego Comic Con Comments Off on SDCC 2013: Teen Wolf Panel Recap and the Season 3B Premiere Date

by Kylie Klein:

Wolfies have a long hibernation ahead of them after the midseason finale airs on Aug. 19.

Showrunner and producer Jeff Davis announced that 3B will hit screens on January 6, 2014.

A teaser for the rest if season 3A,  which received the show’s highest ratings to date for the last episode, Currents, promised more pain and suffering (and excitement) for the residents if Beacon Hills, which bodes well for the second half of the season. See the teaser trailer at MTV.com.

The Teen Wolf panel opened to the howling of a packed Ballroom 20 as cast members Tyler Posey, Holland Roden, Dylan O’Brien, Chrystal Reed, Tyler Hoechlin, Daniel Sharman, Max Carver and Charlie Carver took to the stage with show runner and producer, Jeff Davis, to share some insights and juicy tidbits about future episodes.

Posey, who plays show lead, Scott McCall, said he was enjoying the changes Scott’s been going through thus season as it was “really cool to develop into alpha” – a hint of which we saw in the last episode to air, Currents.

Although it wasn’t all chocolate boxes and roses.

“Sometimes it’s harder to play the hero,” Posey said.

Holland Roden described her character, Lydia Martin, as “the hatch from the Lost”, hinting at the character having dark, enigmatic secrets. Although Davis said Lydia’s true nature will be revealed in episode nine.

Roden followed up by saying the name of the episode, The Girl Who Knew Too Much, is a clue to Lydia’s powers.

The room erupted when the moderator described Lydia and Stiles’ (Dylan O’Brien) relationship as a “Pseudo detective agency”.

O’Brien said a pivotal moment for him was one from the dark episode, Motel California, in which Stiles saves Scott from a grisly fate.

“It was such a Dylan -Tyler moment,” O’Brien said. “Almost like the characters came second. That was such a big emotional moment.”

A forest if hands sprung up after O’Brien asserted that there’s one real problem his character can’t deal with on his own.

“Someone needs to have sex with Stiles,” he said.

Jeff teased that the question of Stiles’s cumbersome virginity will be answered in an upcoming episode.

Chrystal Reed thanked Davis for writing an “Incredible season” for her role as Allison.

“I had a lot to play with,” she said.

“Finding part of her mom in her – she’s kind if crazy,” was Reed’s favourite part she said.

She said one aspect she enjoyed was the way Davis kept star crossed former lovers Scott and Allison apart without separating them.

Davis said it was his aim to capture that nature of first love and how it always effects us.

“We all have people like that in our lives.”

Tyler Hoechlin’s character Derek has also found love this season.

He said he enjoyed the opportunity to play with new aspects of Derek, including exploring Derek’s past in an upcoming episode.

Davis said a lot of questions will be answered, including what the different colours of the wolves’ eyes mean.
