Revenge Recap: “Victory”
Original Air Date (ABC): Sunday March 24, 2013
Season 2 Episode 17
This is all becoming way too much. It’s like being in a hurricane. Too much going on. The only ones who seem remotely calm are the Graysons. Apparently, killing the cause of your problems and pinning it on someone else works well for them. Trying to keep this all straight is giving me a bit of a headache.
Emily is treading on thinner and thinner ice with the Graysons. First, they know Daniel will confide in her and that’s a problem. Next, she always seems to be just where they don’t want her. They are about to sit down to a private meeting with Eli about the foundation when Emily comes in. Eli has decides to pull their foster-mother into the mix telling Emily this is a way to get back at her. Eli and Emily go to visit her. Remarkable that Eli is the only one from Emily’s past that has recognized her as Amanda. Eli tells Emily that their foster-mother, Mrs. Hayward didn’t give her letters from her father. Emily does some thinking about what her life might be like if she had known all this back then. Eli and Mrs. Hayward talk about how they are going to scam the Graysons. I thought Eli was on Emily’s side.
Jack is still trying to find out information on how he was rescued and what exactly caused Amanda’s death. Declan steals Trey’s phone so they can contact Kenny. Jack meets with Kenny and finds out that Nate recorded all the meetings he had with Conrad Grayson. Jack wants those tapes.
Aidan and Nolan are left to work without Emily on the exchange of Carrion for Padma’s father. Nolan doesn’t trust Aidan as much as he does Emily so there is tension on top of tension. Nolan and Aidan are on a rooftop watching Padma. She gives them the program but, shocker, they take Padma and do not give up her father. Aidan wanted to shoot Trask but Nolan wouldn’t let him. Nolan does a lot of self blaming but eventually puts that anger into destroying The Falcon and Inititative and finding Padma.
Daniel and Emily have lunch. Daniel tells Em he’s sorry but they are putting Aidan up to take the fall. He wants her to know this wasn’t his idea and it’s not personal. He always wants to be very careful because he doesn’t want anything to happen to Emily. Daniel is thinking he’s being secretive but an envelope arrives with a picture of him and Emily from lunch. The envelope also contains two bullets. Nothing else. I assumed it was The Initiative but it was Victoria. She’s not going to let Daniel ruin everything by confiding in Emily.
They hold a big press conference at The Stowaway to announce they are taking Hayward House under the wings of the Amanda Clarke Foundation. Eli uses this opportunity to expose Mrs. Hayward and the awful way she mistreated the children. He has even invited past inmates of the home. While Eli is exposing Mrs. Hayward she takes a moment to drop a bomb. It wasn’t Amanda who started that fire. It was Eli. Eli let Amanda take the blame and do five years in juvy for it. To say Emily was shocked is an understatement. She tells Eli to just leave. Eli has completely burned any and all bridges in the Hamptons. He leaves telling Amanda he is going to make things right.
Jack and Declan listen to the recordings of Nate and Conrad. When they hear that Conrad put a hit out on Jack and Amanda, Declan wants to go to the police. Jack says they can’t trust anyone but each other. Instead of the police, Jack decides to tell Conrad he’ll help him out on the campaign trail. Can you say, enemies closer.
Eli gets a complete confession from Hayward about what happened with Amanda’s things. He also does other things to her. All he tells Emily is that Hayward will live. I suppose it’s better we don’t know. Eli is a lovable psycho. He’s off now, on to new adventures.
Emily goes to see Mason at the prison. He is the one Hayward sold her letters to. He no longer has them but he remembers what was in them. One bright shiny point that stands out is, Victoria has an older son.
I really hope that we’ll get some kind of closure on all of this. Every week seems to get more and more convoluted. The only people who I really like anymore are Nolan, Declan, Charlotte and Daniel. What a crazy mess.
