Season 2 Episode 7
Things are finally starting to come together and heat up! I loved this episode. I must admit, as of late I’ve grown tired of the lies and twists. How long can Emily expect to drag this out without someone catching on? Seriously. This episode seems like they are finally going to be pulling things together. I was left looking forward to the return after winter break.
Baby Carl is getting baptized. Jack has invited Nate and his brother to the ceremony. They are so touched they offer and open bar after for all the guests. Jack has even pulled out his dads old address book to invite some of them. That was a great idea from the Ryan brothers. How nice. Not!
Salvador is a heavy hitter on the Grayson Global board. He has great influence over the votes of other members. To ensure his allegiance he is being wooed by Conrad and Daniel. It first appears that Salvador is going to side with Conrad. They have him pretty well convinced. This doesn’t bode well for Daniel but not to fear. Daniel has an ace up his sleeve by the name of Marco. Nolan and Padma show up to Grayson Global to meet with Daniel. Aiden is conspicuously absent. This was Ashley’s doing. She wants Daniel to have total control. Daniel springs Marco on Nolan requesting that in exchange for him not going to the police and having financial forensic people look into this matter, he wants a 51% share in Nolcorp and Nolan to stay on as the head of the company making money as usual. Nolan really has no choice. I can’t stand Marco. As the ep goes on, he actually gives me even more reason to dislike him.
At the baptism Declan is adorable. He is very proud to be the godfather of his nephew and promises to protect him from all evil. Emily promises this also. Emily looks sad as she watches how happy Jack and Amanda are. Is she sad because she wants Jack or she wants what they have? I’m not sure. I can’t imagine living all these lies and being ok with it all. It would drive me crazy. She can destroy so many people’s happiness with a word. It’s frightening. The Ryan brothers are at the back of the church hoping to see some of Carl’s old friends. Matt Duncan shows up. The boys are very happy to see him. When Mr. Duncan sees the Ryan’s he tells Jack that they are no good. Duncan tells Jack to get out of that deal with them. Jack obviously is confused because the Ryan’s have been good to him and the bar.
When Emily and Aiden discover Ashley’s unhealthy hold over Daniel the decide something must be done. This something is in the form of a video sent to Victoria’s phone. Remember that hot and heavy session Ashley had with Conrad? Now Victoria knows all about it. She confronts Conrad and he feels it’s the Initiative trying to pull them apart. Victoria goes to work on trying to figure out how to use this to stop Daniel from gaining control and getting involved with the Initiative. Victoria confronts a smug Ashley in the pool house. She shows her the video. When Ashley says she’ll do anything to keep Daniel, Victoria has an idea. Ashley will get all dolled up and meet Salvador at his hotel. There she will use her womanly ways to convince him to vote against Daniel. This makes Victoria happy. She’s all but certain that she doesn’t need to worry about Daniel winning the vote any longer.
At the bar after baptism party Charlotte gives the sweetest speech. She’s such a cutie. Possibly the only non-psycho Grayson at this point. Emily goes to leave the party and Amanda stops her. Amanda tells Em that she can be happy too. She just needs to stop trying to destroy people. Emily isn’t convinced and goes off to meet Aiden to decide what to do about Ashley and Salvador. Nolan is at the party contemplating what’s become of his life’s work. Jack tells him how happy he is that he came to the baptism and party. Then Jack asks for a favor. He wants Nolan to check on the Ryan brothers for him. Nolan says sure, email the names and I’ll do it. Now the two friends are rudely interrupted by Marco. That dude will just not back off. Now he has the you know what’s to tell Nolan he deserves a piece of all this money pie. He says being fired before Nolcorp went public ruined his career. Nolan reminded him, I tried to give you a payout. Nolan doesn’t want anything to do with Marco but his back his against the wall. He’s going to have to try and find a place for Marco to work at Nolcorp. Ugh, I just can’t stand that little weasel!
Ashley arrives at Salvador’s room looking hot in a cute little red dress. Creepily, Salvador tells her there is a glass of champagne waiting for her. That’s not the creepy part. The creepy part is that it’s on the nightstand! Yuck! After Ashley left Daniel Aiden called him up and asked him to meet him at the very same hotel. When Daniel arrives Aiden asks why he has been pushed out of the decision making after all he’s done to help. When Daniel admits that it was Ashley’s idea, Aiden directs Daniel to the tryst going on upstairs. Daniel bursts in and is obviously furious. He takes a pic of Ashley and Salvador with his camera phone. Tells Salvador that if he doesn’t back him, this pic goes straight to his wife. Then he tells Ashley to get her stuff out of his house. Daniel has sure picked up on this blackmail stuff pretty quickly. I’m a little surprised at how well he is getting into it. A bit disappointed too. I thought that he and Charlotte were basically good. Now, I’m holding out for Charlotte. If her and Declan can run away together, maybe they’ll be all right.
Victoria tries to convince Daniel that if he wins he’ll be in danger. Daniel wants to know what kind of danger and why. The Initiative told Victoria that if they told Daniel anything about them, they’d be signing his death warrant. Since she can’t give Daniel an explanation, he doesn’t believe her. They go to vote. Daniel has won. He’s the new CEO of Grayson Global. He really has turned into quite a jerk. Daniel tells Aiden that there’s no room for him on the board. Sorry, bad luck. Now Aiden and Emily need to find out a way to get him back in. As Daniel sits in his office he’s deleting pictures of him and Ashley. Pictures of him and Emily pop up after the Ashley ones are gone. Curiously Daniel looks at those and doesn’t delete them. This spells trouble for Aiden and Emily. Even though Aiden knows it’s all in their line of work, he’s not going to like Emily pairing up with Daniel again. Daniel isn’t the only one who is thinking maybe he and Emily should be back together. Victoria calls Emily and wants to talk to her about Daniel. Poor Aiden. This is going to mess him up.
Out on the docks the Ryan brothers corner Matt Duncan. They want to talk to him about the death of their father years ago. They beat him up pretty bad and leave him on the dock. Jack comes out to help but Mr. Duncan says no cops. He tells Jack, those boys think your dad killed their father. Jack protests and for a second I thought Duncan was going to throw Carl under the bus, since he’s already dead. Duncan does the right thing though and tells Jack that he killed Ryan but used Carl’s gun. Carl hid the gun in the Amanda to protect Duncan. Duncan tells Jack those boys are out for revenge.
The Ryan brothers stop by to see Jack at the end of the night. They ask about the old timer that got beat up outside. Jack tells them he didn’t see the guys and he made it to the hospital ok. The banter back and forth is sickening. You can feel the tension. Both sides know the other knows what’s going on. The older Ryan brother drops Carl’s address book on the bar. He apparently “mistakenly” took it earlier. When Jack looks inside, Matt Duncan’s name is crossed off in red. Later that night Jack finds the gun under the floorboards of the Amanda. I’m not sure that was a good idea. What’s he going to do with it? Is he going to turn Matt Duncan in? Will anyone believe him?
Daniel has received a gift of a clock that sits by the liquor in his office. It’s a camera from the Initiative. Let the games begin.
