Revenge Recap: “Forgiveness”
Original Air Date (ABC): Sunday October 28, 2012
Season 2 Episode 5

Things are really starting to heat up in the Hamptons.  The memories Emily is having aren’t helping to put things to rest.  Rather, they bring up more problems.  I mean, how would you feel if you remembered your mother tried to kill you?

Aidan and Emily slept on the sofa after the emotional breakdown the night before.  Aidan tells Em he was trying to protect her too.  There’s something else she needs to know however.  Gordon Murphy was married to Kara.  Emily doesn’t want to believe it.  Despite remembering how her mom really is, she’s still holding on to some good thoughts.  Aidan really wants to be on Emily’s side.  Emily makes a point of telling Aidan, I needed someone and you were there.  Don’t let it go to your head.  Ouch.  I don’t understand why she is so incredibly mean to him.  She has to realize at some point she can’t do it all herself.

Kara goes straight to the belly of the beast.  Makes a visit to Victoria.  They discuss Amanda and more importantly, Gordon Murphy.  It becomes clear that Kara’s main goal is to find information on her man, not her daughter.  Kara stabs herself with a thorn from a rose. Which I think is incredibly cool because Emily has taken the last name Thorne.  When Kara excuses herself to wash up Victoria calls Conrad and says get home because we have a dead person having lunch with us.

Charlotte brings Declan his jacket back.  She really is such an innocent in all of this.  You can tell she’d like to talk to Declan a little more but the guy he stole from is at the door.  He gives Declan a bit of a hard time about Charlotte.  To his credit, Declan doesn’t give him much to use and the guy leaves pretty quickly.  Before he goes he gives Declan the name of a guy who can fix their problems fast and for cheap.  After the bar is fixed up Jack decides to let the guy buy into the bar.  He could use the help with the physical work and money.

Baby Carl is all good and Amanda comes out of her coma.  Which is pretty amazing considering the tumble she took.  Hmm, the wonders of television.  Nolan comes to visit Jack and see Amanda and the baby.  Jack mentions that Amanda’s mom is back in the picture.  Nolan leaves to find Emily.  He hasn’t been spending much time with her lately.  He’s been busy with Padma.  When Nolan finds Emily he tells her that currently Jack is about 6 on the Freak-O-Meter, Nolan, himself is a 9 so Emily must be up to infinity.  He wonders why Emily has kept him out of the loop.  She admits she’s been busy.  Yeah, you missed my message that my dad died too, Nolan throws out.  Emily is genuinely sorry that she missed being there for him.

Kara is getting her digs in to Victoria while she stays at the Graysons.  Kara walks up behind Victoria while she looks out over the water and over to Emily’s house.  Kara asks if that was her family’s house.  She said David told her he fell in love with the woman next door.  Charlotte comes in to break up this reunion with the news that Amanda is out of the coma.  Kara leaves to go see her daughter.

Emily walks in to see Amanda, Jack and Carl at the hospital.  Another memory comes forth.  This one is of David telling a 5 year old Amanda that her mother is gone.  Emily congratulates Amanda and tells Jack that she and Carl will come to stay at her home until the mold situation is settled.

Aidan goes undercover to Grayson headquarters to find out info about their financial standings.  He overhears that someone from Nolcorp is digging for information regarding David Clarke’s employment.  Aidan lets Emily know that Padma has inquired about her dad.  While Aidan and Emily are at the house, Gordon’s phone rings.  Aidan is pissed that Emily has kept this from him.  He tells her that he makes a much better partner than enemy.  Yeah, I think Emily has royally screwed this one up.  Emily calls Nolan and lets him know that Padma has been looking into her father’s employment.  Nolan is disappointed.  I still think that it was purely business.  We’ll have to see if Nolan is going to confront Padma, or try to find out what she’s doing first.

The hospital is a busy place.  Kara and Emily are there to visit Amanda and Carl.  Emily tells Kara she’ll take her home so Amanda can get some rest.  Before they get a chance to leave however Mason Treadwell is back.  He asks if Emily’s mom is Kara Clarke.  When she says yes, he says, “god I love the Hamptons”.  He says he’s back to find out the truth behind why the Graysons are being so nice to Amanda.  Emily drives Kara home.  Kara is upset that Amanda doesn’t recognize her.  Kara tells Emily that David was her first love but not her true love.  This hurts Emily.

Remember when Emily ticked Aidan off?  Well he’s wasting no time in messing things up for her and her friends.  Aidan goes to Daniel and asks if there is an exclusivity clause in the contracts for employees.  Meaning, that even if David Clarke used personal funds, any money he invested would have been on behalf of Grayson.  This will be a huge problem for Nolan.  Huge!  Daniel wastes no time in getting started on that plan.

Mason pays a special visit to Victoria.  As you can imagine she is thrilled.  He’s so funny.  When Victoria says that she honestly thought Kara was dead, Mason asks her, “Do you gag a little when you say that?  Honestly.”  That was awesome.   After Mason leaves Victoria is freaking out.  She was searching Kara’s room and found a cell phone that was used to call only one number.  Gordon’s.  Victoria is worried that the Initiative will come back and come after the children.  Conrad has marriage on his mind.  Victoria at first thinks he’s insane, until he explains his reasoning.  Conrad wants them to be married so they can’t be forced to testify against each other.  Ah, you sly dog Conrad.

Kara tells Amanda that despite all the obstacles she has survived.  Emily is listening right outside the door as Kara pours her heart out to Amanda.  Kara says she was very sick for a long time.  Kara explains that she and David decided that telling Amanda she was dead would be easier than trying to explain why her mother was gone.  Kara says that somehow David found it in his heart to forgive her.  Amanda forgives her too.

Amanda is sitting outside with Carl when Emily comes out, to go down to the sea.  Amanda still feels bad that Carl isn’t Jack’s baby.  After all she has put her through, Emily finally tells Amanda that Jack is Carl’s dad.  Amanda is thrilled and kind of understands why Emily did that.  Amanda would like to tell Jack that she’s not really her.  Amanda can’t handle the lies.  Emily tells her that all that would do is break his heart all over again.

Emily goes to the sea and Kara shows up.  She wonders if Amanda really forgives her.  Emily tells her that she thinks she wants to.

At the house Mason shows up to talk to Amanda.  He tells her that he remembers she has a scar.  Where did it go, he asks.  When he helped her at the hospital it was gone.  She said she had it removed but Mason is not buying it.  He tells her that he knows she is not Amanda.  Mason, my friend, you have no idea how deep the pools are you are about to stir up.
