Emily tells us in her monologue, that an engagement can be a commitment to love or a declaration of war.  At this point I don’t think even Emily knows which one she has just entered into.  Emily accepts Daniel’s proposal and presents him with tickets to Paris.  She tells him her greatest regret last year was walking away from him.  It kills me the casualties in Emily’s quest for revenge.  Daniel despises what his parents have done.  Yet he is collateral damage in this war.  Disgusting.  Charlotte too is being destroyed inadvertently by Emily.  She misses her sister Amanda terribly and is falling back to old, bad habits to help her cope.

Daniel announces his engagement and tells mom and dad that they are leaving in two weeks for Paris.  They are going to live there.  Victoria is stunned.  Conrad is shocked but doesn’t really care.  Victoria doesn’t want Emily to take her boy away.  I think it’s all  little too late for that Victoria.  Emily asks Charlotte to be her maid of honor.  Charlotte is thrilled but not excited enough to stick around for the engagement party.  Regina shows up with a package for “Charlie”.  Ugh.  Really don’t like her.  Mostly because she’s pulling Charlotte away from Declan.

Jack shows Victoria the pictures of Conrad with the Governors wife.  Victoria takes all this in stride.  She goes to see Allison immediately.  Allison, to Victoria’s surprise, loves her husband.  She tells V that he has a heart condition and the job is killing him.  Allison has been leaking his ads and strategies to Conrad in an effort to boost Conrad in the polls.  She wants her husband to lose.  Victoria doesn’t seem to know how to react to someone who has true feelings for their spouse.

Takeda has given Daniel Aiden’s personnel file.  When Daniel finds out that Aiden’s father was the baggage handler on the flight Aiden is fired.  Aiden is out of the loop.  He decides that he needs to finish this for Emily.  He wants her out.  Now that Aiden knows revenge doesn’t bring closure, he wants to wrap this up and take Emily away.  He wants to live happily ever after with her.  Aiden gets Nolan to help him.  They want to clean out the Amanda Clarke Foundation and then pull Emily out.  Nolan still needs to find Victoria’s son Patrick so that he can get Nolcorp back.  To this end Nolan goes to see the Falcon.  He tells her if she plays cyberball he’ll erase the evidence against her.  Falcon tells him Victoria paid Patrick $5,000,000 to disappear.  She also tells him Carrion won’t work without me.  Now it appears to be a race between Nolan and the Initiative.

Victoria corners Emily at her engagement party.  She wants to know what Emily is up to.  She says she knows what a woman in love looks like, and that’s not her.  Emily acts the part of the loving if not conniving fiancé.   Daniel pulls Emily aside.  He has to go bail Charlotte out.  She’s been arrested outside of a club with Regina.  Declan had come to find her but the cops wouldn’t let him take her home.  Before Daniel leaves he tells Emily that he’s fired Aiden.  Takeda shows up at the party.  Emily is confused.  Why has Takeda compromised Aiden’s situation.  Takeda tells her Aiden has fallen from the path.  She doesn’t need him.  Emily doesn’t know what to make of this.  Jack also shows up at the party.  He doesn’t understand how Emily can marry into this family after all they’ve been through.  She tells him that some day she’ll be able to explain everything.  Jack says he’s tired of all the lies and half-truths.  He’s just done.

Takeda comes to see Aiden.  Aiden is ready for him.  I was worried.  The master taking on the student.  I wasn’t sure if Aiden was ready for this.  I was worried for nothing.  Aiden made short work of the fight and Takeda is now dead.  That was a surprise.

Daniel has gotten Charlotte out of jail.  She tells him she doesn’t want to bring anyone else into the family for their parents to destroy.  I was thinking she was objecting to the marriage with Emily.  Turns out, Charlotte is pregnant!  Gosh those Porter boys are fertile!

Victoria comes to see Jack.  She acknowledges that although they don’t like each other, they both want to ruin Conrad’s career.  She wants to work with him.  Jack plays the tape of Jake Ryan talking with Conrad about taking care of Amanda.

Aiden meets with Nolan.  Nolan has figured out how to get into the Amanda Clarke Foundation and they are ready to transfer the funds.  At this moment Emily comes in and tries to stop them.  She’s too late.  The funds are drained and deposited into a secret account.  The only trail is that Aiden used his password to sign on to the account.  While Nolan, Emily and Aiden mull this over the power goes out.  Everywhere.  All of NYC is black.  Carrion has begun.
