Revenge Recap: “Destiny”
Original Air Date (ABC): Sunday September 30, 2012
Season 2 Episode 1

Destiny has two ways of crushing us…

Emily is back to her delightfully deceitful ways. Bringing down those who hurt her in the past seems to be her destiny and we couldn’t be happier.

The season opener begins about a year later.  Lots has happened since the whirlwind of last summer.  Emily has gone back to Japan to receive more training.  In a near death experience she unlocks a memory about her mom.  Angel of Mercy Hospital.  When Emily researches it she finds that the hospital was shut down suddenly and the patients moved.  Nolan goes there with Emily to see if they can uncover any more information.  Emily remembers visiting her mother and seeing her strapped down to the bed.  When she finds the leather straps still on the bed she sees an infinity symbol scratched into one.  They figure out that David was not the only visitor to Emily’s mother.  Charlotte also came to see the institutionalized woman.  Why would Charlotte go to see her?  To gloat?  To offer support?  Hopefully Emily will find this out.

The Declans are in a mess of their own.  Jack is caught in a relationship with the fake Amanda.  Emily confronts Amanda to tell her she doesn’t need her help and would rather she just go away.  Amanda isn’t going anywhere.  She warns Emily that if Jack finds out who she really is, he’ll also find out about Emily.  Emily puts some doubt in Jacks head about whether or not the baby is his.  On top of the baby mess, the bar is falling apart and doesn’t pass the Health Inspection.

Daniel is still pretty messed up about Emily dumping him.  To get over this he has latched on to what seems to be a safe bet.  Ashley.  Ashley is sweet and cute but Daniel is just using her.  Daniel and Conrad are at odds over Daniel’s trust.  Conrad wants him to invest in the family business.  Daniel put it very plainly that the business can go belly up, he doesn’t care.  Speaking of the Graysons what about Charlotte.  Mom is gone and Charlotte had effectively gone off the deep end.  She seems to be back to good and is allowed to come to the Memorial Day Art Auction with the kind doctor’s supervision.  Charlotte makes an impassioned speech about her mom at the party.  Immediately after the doc says her blood work came back positive for hydrocodone and she needs to go back in to lockdown.  Charlotte runs to Emily and whispers in her ear before they pull her away.  The doc and dad are in cahoots to keep Charlotte locked up and appear unable to take care of herself.

Victoria is alive!  Turns out the government is trying to make a case against Conrad and they faked Victoria’s death.  Conrad is trying to get all the family  money.  Victoria and Charlotte used to have a cell phone to communicate but now they only thing they seem to have is Emily.  Emily has planted a video camera in the cabin where Victoria is staying.  This proved useful immediately.  Nolan and Emily watch as Victoria tells Bull that she doesn’t trust Emily.  When Bull asks what she wants him to do Victoria tells him to eliminate the liability.
