Revenge Recap: “Confidence”
Original Air Date (ABC): Sunday October 14, 2012
Season 2 Episode 3
“Exploit your opponents weakness. That is the key to Revenge. ” – Takada
We start with Emily and Aiden appearing to work together to out run dogs in a maze. They are running, Aiden pulling Emily along when he has to until they come to a dead end. Emily jumps up easily but Aiden slips. Emily grabs for his hand and pulls him over. Aiden falls to the ground claiming he’s hurt his leg. When Emily stops to help he runs past her and steals the flag. This was a contest and Emily just lost. Aiden preyed on her weakness which was helping others she had become close to. I’m not sure she still has this weakness. It seems when Emily starts to get feelings, that just pisses her off and makes her more vengeful.
White Haired Man lies dead on the floor. Emily and Aiden are going through his pockets. While Emily is on the phone, politely excepting an invitation to the house from Victoria, Aiden pockets a key from the Pine Creek Hotel. Aiden tells Emily to not let the loss of her mom distract her from her true mission. Then Emily hits Aiden over the head with a wine bottle. Thanks for saving my life buddy, here’s one for you!
That skeevy rich kid Trey, has talked Declan into stealing with him. I can’t believe Declan is that dumb. I really thought he was coming around since his dad died. Not so much.
Charlotte is very happy for Amanda’s pregnancy and can’t wait to be an aunt. She gives Amanda a $5,000 gift certificate for baby shopping. Jack wants nothing to do with it. He tells Amanda to give it back.
Ashley is setting up a press conference for all to be spilled about Victoria’s kidnapping. Victoria “grounds” the family until all of this has blown over. Victoria meets with Emily and tells her they don’t need her sniffing around anymore. She isn’t welcome anywhere near the Grayson’s.
Aiden wakes up in a dumpster just as it’s being picked up by the truck. He smoothly jumps out and down the front of the truck. The driver was like, “Get off my truck!” Not surprised at all that some guy just crawled out of the trash. No, are you ok man. Nothing! At the Pine Creek Hotel Aiden finds the flight recorder from Victoria’s doomed flight. He asks the manager on the way out if he’s seen this man, shows her a pic of the White Haired Man. The familiar looking manager tells him that she recognizes it as a tenant but that’s all. When Aiden leaves the manager checks his references and realizes he is a fake.
Emily wants Amanda to drop a journal off at the Grayson’s. Jack hates the Grayson’s so Amanda doesn’t want to have anything to do with it. Emily guilts her into taking the journal. Amanda has to lie to Jack so she can get to the Grayson’s. The thing about lying is, if you have any kind of conscience you eventually get caught. Poor Amanda is going to get caught. Emily keeps throwing the false fact that the baby isn’t Jack’s into Amanda’s face. That makes it really hard for me to like Emily. Amanda has only helped Emily and she is feeling her wrath. If Emily’s “friends” aren’t safe, then who is?
While Amanda is out Jack gets a visit from someone who has Declan’s license. Mr. Ryan is the owner of the house Declan was burglarizing with Trey. Declan won’t give Trey up. Mr. Ryan just wants his stuff back. Jack and Declan are supposed to meet him the next night with the stuff. Jack tells Mr. Ryan if there’s anything he can do for him just to let him know. Mr. Ryan looks around the bar creepily and says that he will hold them to that. That bar is all the Porter boys have. I’m really worried that those rich kids are messing with them to the point that they will lose everything.
Aiden meets back up with Emily. We find out that back in the day Aiden and Emily were pretty hot and heavy. Aiden left her and she refuses to forgive him. Aiden gets all of the White Haired Man’s belongings aside from a pocket watch with a picture of a beautiful blonde women in it and his sim card from his cell phone. He leaves Emily with the flight recorder. Aiden tells Emily to be careful what you wish for. Finding her mother may not be exactly the reunion she is looking for. Emily refuses to listen She is hell bent on finding her mother. Nothing else makes sense to her.
At the Grayson’s everything is going crazy. Amanda gives Charlotte the fake diary. This forces Charlotte to confront her mother about David Clarke being her dad in front of a reporter. Daniel tells his mothers she is evil and awful. He got a note with her passport in it and tells Conrad and Charlotte she planned her own kidnapping and was going to run off with the money. It seems as if the Grayson family has finally imploded. Daniel is ready to write his mom off when Emily tells him, the only way to beat her is to play her game. As a result of all this turmoil right in the middle of the press conference, Victoria says she’s going to take care of this now. Victoria makes an announcement that Charlotte is David Clarke’s. That Conrad is a loyal and supporting husband. Daniel is the most wonderful son you could ever want. Oh my gosh the bs is getting deep in here. Wait! Victoria’s not done. Amanda Clarke, my lovely daughters half sister welcome to the family. Is there a more dysfunctional family on tv? I really don’t think so. After the press conference with Victoria smiling like the cat that got the canary Conrad has to get his digs in. Conrad and Victoria will be getting married and honeymooning in Tuscany. Ooh boy. Who knows what is true anymore.
Jack sees Amanda on tv at the Graysons. When she gets back to the house Jack tells Amanda that he’ll commit to the baby but he can’t commit to her. Way to go Emily. I wonder what Amanda will do now? Will she give up Emily and tell Jack everything? That would mean telling him the baby isn’t his. Even though it is. My head is starting to hurt.
Nolan this episode plays with poor Padma’s heart without even knowing he’s doing it. She really like her boss and he unwittingly leads her on and then drops her like a hot rock when Emily calls. Nolan was also choked by Aiden, so all in all it was a kinda crappy episode for him.
Back in Japan, Takada tells Emily that if she wants to succeed she needs to close her heart. As we watch Emily listen to a voice mail a woman she thinks is her mother left for White Haired Man (Who we now know is Gordon Murphy) it doesn’t appear her heart is closed. That is going to be the demise to Emily’s plans. Her heart.
