Revenge Recap: “Collusion”
Original Air Date (ABC): Sunday January 20, 2013
Season 2 Episode 10
“Every human is born of collusion. We come into this world the result of a covenant.”
Emily’s monologue in the beginning kept ringing true throughout this episode. Agreements abound, made with friend and foe. It gets a bit tricky to follow. You quickly realize that, if you have agreements with too many people, things are liable to start falling apart.
Conrad and Victoria are pleasantly annoying each other at breakfast. Ashley makes her first appearance since being dismissed by Victoria. The daggers shooting from Victoria’s eyes were priceless. Ashley was so smug and pleased with herself. When Victoria refers to her as a cat that has dragged itself back in, Ashley responds with, “Spoken like a woman no one is sleeping with”. That was awesome!
Now on to some true love, Emily and Aiden. I can’t stress enough how much I love the two of them together. It tears me up that Emily has to play house with Daniel. Ugh. Daniel is an all right guy, I just like Aiden so much more. I hope they can tough it out through all the lies and covenants. Another couple that I used to love but now dislike very much is Padma and Nolan. Nolan is so amazing he doesn’t deserve to be played. I hope he can see past Padma’s lies before too much damage is done.
Helen finds Aiden and shows him a video of Colleen. They have her alive but hooked on drugs. Heartbreaking. Helen believes that Victoria Grayson is behind the attempted kidnapping and questioning at the fundraiser. The Inititative wants Victoria dead. They’ve had enough of her meddling. The video of Colleen is sent to Aiden’s phone with the subject reading, “a life for a life”. Aiden must kill Victoria if he wants his sister released. Aiden can’t tell Emily about this because she would try to stop him. He is on his own.
Daniel decides to whisk Emily off to Los Angeles to help him seal the Stonehaven deal. Ms. Carlisle doesn’t want her father’s company to be broken into pieces and sold off. Daniel promises that he wants to improve Grayson Global’s image and he has no intention of destroying the company. With Emily’s charm it appears that Daniel has the Stonehaven deal in the bag. Victoria comes to L.A. to try to stop him. Aiden is also in L.A. following Victoria. Emily meets with him and tells him to get Prosser to back out. Victoria meets with Jason Prosser and tells him that if he gets Stonehaven from Daniel then he can have her. That would be interesting. How would she explain that to Conrad? Well, she doesn’t have to worry. Emily has Nolan pull up some dirt on Mr. Prosser. By promising to buy Nolan a house no less. At dinner Daniel successfully embarrasses Jason and Ms. Carlisle goes with GG. Victoria doesn’t understand what is going on. With Emily and Prosser on her side, Daniel would’ve had no chance. Victoria meets with Prosser. He’s pissed. He feels they all played him and he’s done with them all. After Prosser leaves Victoria in a darkened park. Aiden lines up his shot. He’s stopped just before shooting by Emily. Emily tells him to convince the Initiative that this way is better. Aiden listens to Emily and stops pursuing Victoria.
Back in the Hampton’s Conrad is working to get the Ryan’s out of the Porter boys business. They get Matt Duncan to give a confession to the murder of the Ryan’s father. Then Conrad offers $50,000 for the Ryan’s to beat feet. Nate takes it. He never liked what they were doing to the Porter boys anyway. Kenny wants to continue working on his father’s vision. He wants to acquire the properties to build a casino. He goes to Conrad with this and just like that, Conrad’s promise to the Porter family looks like it’s going up in smoke. You can’t trust anyone it seems!
When they get back home Emily gives Daniel the cold shoulder coming off the plane. Victoria comes to see Emily to find out why she didn’t stop Daniel. It appears as if the tenuous alliance between the two women is over. Emily can’t find Aiden. He’s blocked his phone somehow so they can’t track him. It’s looking pretty lonely for Emily right now. Emily wants to strengthen the bond with Daniel without jumping into bed. She tells him that she’s sorry but his mother had her trying to influence him. Daniel kind of knew this, but appreciates Emily being truthful. Her alliance with Daniel is safe, for now.
Nolan meets with Emily. He realizes that Padma has been playing him. Thank goodness! I was really worried about him and that little hoochie! Although, I do wonder what the Initiative has on Padma to make her play dirty pool. Emily tells Nolan to play her like she’s played him. Nolan sets it up for Padma to find a fake Carrion file. All while he’s watching on his tablet. He’s so crushed. I just wanna give him a hug. Emily and Nolan have figured out that the Inititative wants to turn off all the power. They don’t know why yet. Having the ability to control power is pretty scary.
Charlotte has been feeling fairly left out. She just turned 18 but everyone’s been busy turning deals. When they finally get together to have an intimate party Charlotte drops a bomb. She’s filed papers to change her last name to Clarke. She feels that Amanda has been the closest thing to family she’s had in a long time. That hasn’t even had time to settle in with the Graysons. Emily, the princess of perfect timing, stops in to drop off Charlotte’s present. She meets with Daniel then heads off for home.
Aiden is waiting for her at the house. He received a video of his sister OD’ing on drugs. It appears the Initiative has killed her because Aiden didn’t hold up his end of the bargain. Emily hugs Aiden and tells him he can’t trust them. Colleen might still be alive. Aiden grabs Emily by her hair and pulls her away from him. He is furious. He says he never would’ve trusted Emily. She told him not to kill Victoria and now it appears his sister is dead. Aiden is through with Emily. He’s off to find out about his sister. In ominous words Aiden tells Emily that if Colleen is dead, it’s on Emily’s conscience. Emily is left alone in the dark on the porch of her home. She looks devastated and afraid.
Loved this episode. Finally, not everything works. I knew that eventually the lies and run-arounds had to come out. I’m very interested to see now where this is going.
