It’s an exciting day for American Horror Story fans! This morning, Entertainment Weekly released a first glimpse of the characters featured in American Horror Story: Asylum. In the second season of this groundbreaking drama, fans of the first season (which could now reasonably be entitled American Horror Story: Murder House) will be introduced to all new characters, all new mystery, all new horror… but with a few familiar faces.
Returning to the cast this year are fan favorites Jessica Lange (who won an Emmy for her performance in season one), Evan Peters, Zachary Quinto, Lily Rabe, and Sarah Paulson. Several exciting additions to the cast this year include James Cromwell, Joseph Fiennes, Adam Levine and Chloe Sevigny.
When Asylum was first announced as the theme for Season 2, earlier this month, co-creator Ryan Murphy had this to say in a statement released to the press:
“We picked Asylum because it not only describes the setting – an insane asylum run by Jessica Lange’s character which was formerly a tuberculosis ward – but also signifies a place of haven for the unloved and the unwanted. This year’s theme is about sanity and tackling real life horrors.”

And, in case you missed it, catch up on the teaser trailers, which the Official AHS Facebook Fan Page calls “clues” about the Asylum.
American Horror Story: Asylum will debut on FX on Wednesday, October 17th.
