Lost Girl Recap: “Faetal Justice”
Original Air Date on SyFy: Monday March 26, 2012
Season 1 Episode 11

When you truly love someone there isn’t anything you wouldn’t do for them. Doubt has a tendency to creep into your thoughts when something is amiss, and you begin to question your judgment…but unconditional love prevails. This week’s episode of Lost Girl shows the lengths at which people will go to just to protect their loved ones.

Sanctuary

We open with Dyson at the night club Carpe Noctem run by the favored Dark Fae, Vex. Dyson is questioning the Fae bartender named Silas and begins to get into an argument with the Fae bouncer named Ba’al. When Ba’al heads outside of the club we see him followed and attacked by a wolf. It isn’t too much longer that Dyson wakes up half naked next to a dead and shredded up Ba’al. Dyson is covered in Ba’al’s blood. Dyson runs straight to the Dal and asks for Sanctuary. Trick immediately clears out the Dal and goes into the protective Sanctuary protocol. Dyson claims that he has no recollection of what happened, but believes that he was set up. Hale calls the Dal and tells Dyson that the Ash wants him to turn himself in, but Trick knows that if Dyson does that then the Dark Fae will pin this on him and execute him. Bo is present and finally convinces Dyson to let her investigate what happened since he is unable to leave the Dal.

Gathering security camera footage from the night club shows that there were three witnesses to the argument before Ba’al left the club. One was Vex, the other the bartender named Silas and the last, a human goth girl named Portia. Bo and Kenzi decide to go to the club and try to find Portia. While there Vex encounters Bo and the two exchange harsh words with each other since the last time they saw each other they were trying to kill each other. Vex tries convincing Bo to choose the Dark Fae and hang out at his club since there are plenty of pretty people to feed off from there. Bo tells Vex that she knows Dyson was set up and she is going to find out what happened. Vex adamantly denies any involvement but is angry that Dyson killed one of his good friends. He cannot wait until the Morrigan gets her hands on him.

Bo decides that she must question Silas while Kenzi tries to locate Portia at the club. Silas tells Bo that Ba’al and Dyson have quite a brutal past together but also states that Vex has a short fuse with most people. Kenzi questions Portia about what she saw the night Ba’al was murdered but gives no more insight into the case than what was already stated. Kenzi and Portia are two peas in a pod and have a lot in common. Kenzi invites Portia over to stay a few nights since she knows that Portia is homeless.

Red Caps

Bo returns to the Dal and wants to know what sort of bad past Dyson and Ba’al had together. Dyson tells her that years ago he was investigating a case that involved a murdered family. The crime scene had a sink full of blood and he knew that is was Fae related because it was what a Fae street gang called the Red Caps did. They would dye their hats with the blood of their victims. Bo is curious about Dyson’s tattoo on his back. He explains that it is written in the Lycanthrope language and lists a record of all the battles he has been in. Again, Dyson stresses that he did not commit this crime. Bo believes him.

Bo pays Hale a visit at the police station. Hale tells her that two hours passed between the time Dyson got off work and arrived at the club the night Ba’al was murdered. Dyson was unable to recollect anything from just before he left work all the way until he woke up next to Ba’al’s dead body. Dyson even had a Kirin (a Fae that can read into your memories) dive into his brain, but Dyson’s memory had been wiped out. Bo has Hale give her that name and address of the last person Dyson spoke to on the phone just before he left the station…and art dealer named Lyle.

S&M

Bo rushes to Lyle’s house and seduces him into telling her what the call was about when he called Dyson. Lyle chokes out that he was scared that things had gone too far in the V.I.P. room at the night club. He said that Ba’al ran a group where guys could go in and do sadistic things to the women and they would forget what happened to them after it was done. Lyle was upset that Ba’al had killed one of the girls that they were torturing. Meanwhile, Kenzi is at home with Portia and they both are shocked to see that Portia has whip lacerations all over her back. Portia has no idea how they got there. Portia shares with Kenzi that Silas has been extremely nice to her and Vex has been very accommodating.

Trick is looking for support to ensure that Dyson get a fair trial. He is upset by the lack of support. He believes wholeheartedly that Dyson is innocent. Dyson is touched by Trick’s loyalty, but is deeply angered when the Ash shows up at the Dal to try to take Dyson. The Ash and Trick have a heated argument, but Trick prevails due to Sanctuary. The Ash is concerned that preventing Dyson from going to a swift trial might incite a war. The Ash leaves and soon after Dyson takes his chances and slips out of the Dal.

A Fae Roofie

Dyson arrives at Vex’s club and attacks him. The Morrigan shows up with her henchmen and has Dyson tied up. She is pleased that Dyson is at her mercy due to the crime because this gives her a chance to question him about Bo. As Dyson is being tortured, Bo and Kenzi show up because they are looking for Portia. Portia had slipped out past Kenzi earlier, so when Bo came home and told her what was happening to girls in the club, Kenzi knew that Portia was in danger. After freeing Portia from one of the V.I.P. torture rooms, they find Dyson surrounded by Vex, the Morrigan, Silas, and the henchmen. Bo manages to free Dyson and they fight off the Dark Faes. Kenzi then announces that it was all of Silas’s doing. Kenzi and Bo figured out that Silas was in love with Portia and when Portia started to be one of the V.I.P. torture victims, he knew that the only way to save her from being killed was to kill Ba’al. It was the perfect circumstance because when Dyson showed up and argued with Ba’al he knew that he could frame Dyson. Silas is also a werewolf. He had sent Ba’al to get something outside while he drugged Dyson. Silas then shape shifted into a wolf and murdered Ba’al. After that he drug Dyson’s body over to make it seem as though Dyson did it. It was all out of his love to protect Portia.

The Morrigan has no choice but to drop the whole thing and deal with Silas. The Ash later returns to the Dal and tells Trick and Dyson that he is happy that the whole thing turned out ok. Bo and Dyson then share a tender moment alone. It seems as though they are falling further and further into love.

Quotable Quotes:

Bo to Kenzi:  “All we have to do is find a girl dressed in black in the middle of a goth club.”
Kenzi to Bo: “Oh…rapid calculation…that is about everybody here, including me, in a ‘pigeonhole me and die’ sort of way.”

Kirin Fae to Dyson: “For you, it’s gonna feel like somebody’s pouring battery acid in your skull.”
Dyson to Kirin Fae: “Well, don’t sugarcoat it for me.”

Portia to Kenzi: “I don’t know what those people are, but they’re not like us, are they? They’re different.”
Kenzi to Portia: “They’re different, but in most ways they’re just like everybody else.”
