Just around the corner, on February 13th and 14th, Vamplit Publishing is hosting the “Bloody Hearts Blog Hop”, a Valentine’s Day gift — in appreciation for all their readers and followers. This is the first year for the event, and will showcase authors, filmmakers, and artists, along with many more contributors to the horror industry.

Sponsoring the event is Angelic Knight Press, the publisher of the Satan’s Toybox Anthologies. They’re giving away paperback copies of Demonic Dolls and Toy Soldiers on both days of the blog hop. Stacey Turner, the editor and CEO commented about the series.

“The idea for the Satan’s Toybox series just sort of came together one day. Blaze and Yvonne had started this great publishing company and then hired me as editor and we wanted to do something fun to get started. We also knew a lot of writers and wanted to help some of them get noticed so an anthology sounded like a great idea. Then, and I can’t even exactly remember quite how, we came up with the idea to do a themed series of anthologies so that people would anticipate the next one and want to collect them all. Satan’s Toybox was born. From there it was just brainstorming the themes: Demonic Dolls, Toy Soldiers and Terrifying Teddies. And each time I thought we might have limited the theme too much, new authors would blow me away with individual story ideas that stretched the boundaries of the central themes. The biggest piece of serendipity was hiring Rebecca Treadway to do our covers. She completely got what we were trying to do and ran with the idea. Her covers are amazing and really set us apart from other anthologies, in my opinion.

We decided to end it with just the three so we could branch out into other areas. And also, let’s face it– anthologies are a lot of work–and the Press was receiving more and more submissions. But it’s been a great experience, we’ve met and welcomed a lot of new authors as well as old friends. Anthologies are definitely still a huge part of our future business. We’re hoping Satan’s Toybox: Toy Soldiers will be out in paperback in time for this contest and coming in March or early April is Satan’s Toybox: Terrifying Teddies.”

T.K. Millin, first time published in the Demonic Dolls anthology commented, “Being my first acceptance of publication in a book, I of course was ecstatic, but I was also a bit nervous. When Stacey Turner began working with me on edits to Mr. Jingle she quickly put to rest the many real life horror stories I had heard about working with an editor. Her professionalism, enthusiasm and encouragement help to strengthen my confidence as a writer. But I have to say, having connected and communicated with Blaze McRob and Yvonne Bishop who launched AKP, I wasn’t surprised. It’s very apparent the core values at Angelic Knight Press were built on these principles.”

Jason McKinney, author of Memoirs of the Walking Dead and Dog World, has stories in both anthologies and says, “Working with the editing and publishing staff of AKP was the smoothest process I’ve ever been through in my writing career.”

For anyone who loves anthologies and wants to discover something new Angelic Knight Press’ Satan’s Toybox series is one to follow. They have since published their second one, Toy Soldiers, and are working on a third, Terrifying Teddies.
