Last week, at a Television Critics Association party for network showrunners, the press was able to catch up with producer/writer Jonathan Nolan, who was there to promote his new CBS series, Person of Interest.  When asked about The Dark Knight Rises, Nolan was unable to give away too much, stating the project was still in “lock-down mode”, but did reveal a little about Tom Hardy’s Bane:

“I’ve gotta tell you, I think what Tom Hardy is doing with the role is spectacular. I’ve had the benefit of seeing a little bit more than the audience has seen, at this point, and it’s pretty spectacular.”

Audiences have already been treated to a six-minute prologue to the film, running with the premiere of Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol, which included an incredible air sequence featuring Hardy’s Bane.

Nolan also discussed his aspirations to make the transition from writer to director, following in the footsteps of his brother and co-writer on the reboot of the Batman franchise, Christopher Nolan.

The Dark Knight Rises is currently slated to hit the big screens in July of this year.
