Winter is Coming.

For those who can’t wait until the Game of Thrones season 3 premiere on March 31st, we have a bit of casting news for you, courtesy of WinterIsComing.net.  While none of these actors will be leading contributors to the show, any fan of GoT knows the supporting cast brings its own diversity and depth to the overall story as we journey further into A Song of Ice and Fire.

Without further ado, here’s what we learned today:

Tom Brooke

British actor Tom Brooke will be playing the role of Lothar Frey (often called “Lame Lothar”). His character is involved with the Stark family, playing a role in Robb and Catelyn’s storyline, in keeping with the anticipated adaptation of A Storm of Swords.  Brooke’s acting credits include Pirate Radio (2009), Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason (2004), and The Young Victoria (2009).

Burn Gorman

Recently having appeared in the final installment to Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight Trilogy, British actor Burn Gorman (best known for his work on the BBC/Starz series Torchwood) will be playing a member of the Night’s Watch. Based on his filming schedule, WinterIsComing.net speculates he’ll be part of the group that includes Samwell and Lord Commander Mormont.  Other acting credits for Gorman include Layer Cake with Daniel Craig (2004), and The Oxford Murders (2008).

Stephanie Blacker

It’s reported actress Stephanie Blacker will be playing a character named “Violet”. Not much more is known at this point, but there is a character in the books with this name, who appears in flashbacks. Blacker’s acting credits include Lab Rats (2010) and I Want Candy (2007).
