Fan Expo Dallas released the following press release this morning ahead of Fan Expo Dallas March 31-April 2. Read on for more information:
DALLAS (March 10, 2017) – Fan Expo Dallas is sure to deliver the once-in-a-lifetime experience that families will cherish during the annual costume-friendly, character-filled, celeb-spotting weekend at Dallas’ Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center March 31 through April 2, 2017. The largest comics, sci-fi, horror, anime and gaming event in Texas offers spectacular attractions and programming for fans of all ages.
Whether or not the kids are in tow, fans should best prepare themselves for the expo. While many don costumes to the event, it is most essential to wear comfortable clothes and shoes, as there is plenty of walking to do. It is also helpful to bring extra money for food. More than 600 retailers from all over offer all sorts of memorabilia, artwork, comic books, DVDs, games, toys and T-shirts, so fans and fan families should be prepared to have their skirts tugged into taking home that special souvenir from a favorite like Harry Potter, Marvel or Disney.
Among the family-oriented attractions offered, the Kids Costume Contest is a favorite. Children 11 years or younger are invited to dress up as their favorite superhero, video game or sci-fi character and show off their outfits to other families and fans. They have a chance to win a first, second or third place prize. All entrants will also receive a participant’s ribbon.
If the little ones need a break from walking, or are looking for an activity aimed specifically for them, families can visit the Kids Lounge. The rest area accommodates weary families, and there are multiple activities kids can participate in. Children may even meet a Stormtrooper. The area is for kids 12 years and younger.
Fans can get up close and personal with their favorite stars during autograph sessions and celebrity photo sessions. Professional photographers can snap a glossy 8-by-10 photo for the next family Christmas card. Some guests charge additional fees for an autograph.
