Comic Fest 2018 is this weekend (April 20-22) and a great convention to attend year after year, but this year’s just might be the best so far thanks to its theme: celebrating the 200th anniversary of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein.
The small but mighty San Diego convention covers all things from comics to astrology, but a unique aspect of it is the themed café that serves as a panel room, event space and mini museum, so given that all things Frankenstein will be celebrated, it is sure to be a spooky good time!
There are several panels that will be chock full of Frankenstein goodness including “Boris Karloff and Frankenstein” during which Boris Karloff’s daughter, Sara Karloff will discuss her father’s unforgettable performance that took Frankenstein’s monster to a whole other level. View the entire weekend’s programming HERE.
A reception on Friday night in the Frankenstein Café will be full of music, entertainment and even a birthday cake (200 years of existence is worthy of cake, is it not?) and Saturday night will also feature a party full of entertainment, trivia, music and fun for all in attendance.
One of my favorite things about Comic Fest is how intimate and casual it is. It is a small con, sure, but thanks to that, the attendees and guests can actually have discussions and connect in a way that you no longer see at the big conventions.
Comic Fest tickets are still available and can be purchased HERE.
