Being Hurt
It is amazing how fast we can forget our past hurts and regrets with just a little passage of time. For some, the pain resonates for the rest of their lives. Healing from the past leaves its scars, but be careful to make certain that before you take off the bandage it is still not bleeding. Tearing it open might make things worse. This week’s episode of Being Human finds Josh and Julia together again, Sally repairing a life she ruined, and Aidan leaving.
Ghost
Sally might be a ghost herself, but that does not stop her from being haunted. Scott, aka the Reaper, refuses to leave her alone. He is the manifestation of Sally’s alter ego that she banned. She struggles to ignore his constant remarks. The build-up of remorse for shredding ghosts has left her depressed. When she finds out that Janet, the girlfriend of Dr. Forest that Sally possessed, has been admitted into the psychiatric ward, she wants to make things right.
Sally makes her way to the hospital and sees for herself that Janet rambles on and on about another life and draws pictures of people she loves but does not know why. She is unaware that the possession caused her to retain information from Sally’s life. Scott tells Sally that she can bust Janet out of there by possessing her again…but Sally resists. She comes up with a plan that just might work.
Sally asks Josh to, basically, play “telephone” between her and Janet. Josh refuses to get involved with the situation. Sally believes that Janet deserves to know the truth. Eventually Nora shows up and offers to help Sally with this idea.
Nora gently tells Janet that a ghost possessed her and is very sorry. Janet asks for proof that this is true by asking her to finish the last line of a poem that Sally wrote. Sally manages to remember the poem, and Nora relays the words. Janet now understands what happened to her, but is very hurt that Sally would do this to her.
A Do-Over
It seems rather official: Josh and Julia are a couple…and as a couple they must accept each other’s friends. Josh asks Aidan to join him and Julia for dinner at the apartment. This is a tricky situation since Julia is still mad at Aidan for breaking up with her and feeling like a whore…but Josh defends Aidan saying that Aidan was just being a good friend. Aidan agrees but only if he can bring Suren over. Sally adds that Aidan better tell Suren that he and Julia had a fling together.
Josh makes a juicy roasted chicken for his guests and Aidan has conveniently forgotten to tell Suren about Julia…but Suren already knows…she even asks Julia and when Julia confirms, Suren says she has smelled her before….that she has a distinct perfume.
The next day Josh seems pretty satisfied about how dinner went. He even gets a big kiss from Julia, but none other than Nora is standing there to witness this kiss. Julia leaves the two of them so that they can talk alone. Nora is deeply hurt by how fast Josh has moved on, but Josh reminds her how deeply she hurt him. Nora explains to Josh that hanging around Brynn was eye-opening. She saw how violent she was and didn’t want to be a part of that. Nora now wants to make things right between her and Josh.
Josh openly discusses with Julia how confused he is now that Nora is back. Julia understands but tells Josh that he needs to make a choice and that if he wants to be with her it is a deep commitment. Later on, Nora approaches Josh and tells him that Brynn told her how to end the curse. Josh will have to kill Ray, the werewolf that turned him into a werewolf. When Josh refuses, Nora smiles. Josh asks her why she doesn’t kill him and end the curse for her, but she tells him she loves him too much to kill him.
Mommy Dearest
Aidan is head over heels in love with Suren. Things seem to be going their way. Mother will be arriving and she will see how they have culled all of the orphan vampires and taken control of Boston. But they are wrong. Mother is satisfied with Suren’s work the past few months but that does not make up for the eight centuries of disappointment. Mother tells Suren that she must remain in Boston and that Aidan is free. Freedom sounds great but really it is banishment. Mother decrees that any vampire caught having any contact with Aidan will be killed. Aidan is livid and tries attacking Mother. She is too powerful for Aidan to take down.
Aidan confides in Josh about his predicament. Freedom means that he has no access to blood dens or even cover-ups. The thing that hurts him the most is that he can’t see Suren. This is more than he can take and asks Suren if she will run away with him. She accepts and so now Aidan must make his gut-wrenching goodbyes to Sally and Josh…forever.
Suren proves to be a whiney princess. While they are on the road and in a motel room, she tells Aidan that she is hungry, NOW. Aidan must venture out and find her something to eat. While out, Aidan is approached and overcome by three vampires…and one of them is Henry. Henry has betrayed Aidan.

Aidan narrating: “People love that cliché ‘Time heals all wounds’ but live long enough you realize that most clichés are true. It’s amazing what even the smallest passage of time can accomplish…the cuts can close, the imperfections it can smooth over. But in the end it comes down to the size of the wound, doesn’t it. If the wound is deep enough there might be no way to keep it from festering, even if you have all the time in the world.”
Josh to Aidan: “That wasn’t me. Stu stole my penis.”
Josh to Aidan: “You all right? What’s up? You just seem extra broody today.”
Josh to Aidan: “Shouldn’t you be, like, in a field somewhere wearing white linen, rolling around in daisies?”
Josh to Aidan: “I’ll always be here for you, know that.”
Sally to Aidan: “Actually he won’t. But I will. Look me up in a couple hundred years.”
Aidan to Sally and Josh: “I love you both.”
