Being Human Recap: “Get Outta My Dreams, Get Into My Mouth”
Original Air Date (SyFy): Monday February 11, 2013
Season 3 Episode 5

Being Loyal

It seems as though some of our friendships solidify merely by the passage of time. There really is no solid foundation other than regular association. Then there are other friendships that seem to cement overnight, either because you have experienced some life-altering event together, or simply because you have an unexplainable connection. In this episode of Being Human, Nora’s loyalty to Aidan is tested, while Sally instantly bonds with a new lover. Trusting our own ability to properly size-up the character of people can prove to be a difficult task when our emotions take over our logic.

“Naked Naughty Sally”

Sally seems to be overly happy lately, and hungry…and Nora can’t help but ask if it has something to do with Sally’s new boss Max. After Sally admits this as fact, Nora encourages her to ask Max out. A perfect opportunity presents itself when Sally decides to host a dinner party with Mick and Zoe. Sally invites Max to join them, so she doesn’t feel like a third wheel, so he agrees to be the “fourth wheel”. Max leaves to go home, while Sally continues to clean up the funeral home. She is approached by another pestering spirit, which seems to be happening more often than she’d like (and usually dispels them instantly with an iron tire iron) but this time she stops herself from swiping the spirit. The spirit lady introduces herself as Linda, Max’s deceased mother. Right away Sally can tell that this mother is over-bearing and uber protective.

That night at the dinner party, Zoe, Nick, and Sally are unable to ignore Max’s mother as she makes snide remarks. Max can’t see or hear her, of course, thankfully. Sally discreetly signals Linda to go to another room with her so they can talk. Sally basically tells her to leave them alone and stop interfering with her son’s privacy. Linda disappears. After Zoe and Nick leave, Max and Sally have an intense moment where they are about to kiss, but Max pulls back. The next day at work, Max apologizes for being so gun shy and the two decide to proceed with the kiss while sitting in the visitation room. One thing leads to another and they have sex. Max is guilt stricken over having intercourse at the mortuary, but Sally seems rather pleased. While Max runs off to dress himself, Linda appears and calls Sally a slut. She even tells Sally that she “de-flowered” her boy. Sally is completely unapologetic and urges Linda to leave them alone. Linda warns Sally not to mess with Max. A little bit later, Sally robotically tells Max that she is quitting her job and that her curiosity has been satisfied. The next morning, Sally wakes up confused, but Linda tells her that she warned her. Sally was possessed by Linda.

Even though Zoe feels it is very “karmic” that Sally was possessed, she tends to the emotional needs of Sally and even gifts her a “soul blocking” medallion. Sally arrives at the funeral home and finds Linda. The soul-blocking necklace is effective and Sally is free to exorcise Linda, but she pleads to Sally that she just loves Max so much. Sally demands that Linda let her son go so he can stop being so lonely. Linda tearfully accepts defeat and agrees. Sally then meets up with Max later that night and the two agree to start over…even though it just begun…but they seem to really like each other.

Josh, the Brave

Nora seems to be extra cautious around Aidan. She repeatedly remarks to Josh about how dangerous Aidan is right now because he hasn’t fed on blood. Even when Aidan does grab a meal, it is still not good enough for Nora. She is appalled when he admits that he has been taking the untainted blood of the bubble boy, Kenny, at the hospital. She still sees Aidan as a threat. This feeling intensifies after Liam approaches both Nora and Josh about Aidan. Liam admits that he has been killing off what is left of any vampires, but traced one particular vampire back to their house. Even though Josh tells Liam that Aidan is his best friend, Liam commands that they kill Aidan, or he will do it himself. Liam seems to be poking around a lot lately. Earlier he had approached them at work asking them about why his children had paid Josh $1700. Josh honestly answered Liam’s questions by telling him about the experiments to make them human again. Liam could tell that Josh was not a werewolf anymore and Josh admitted that he killed his maker out of self-defense. Liam is getting a bit too close for comfort.

Nora and Josh panic at the thought of killing Aidan, but Nora seems to be mulling it over in her mind. Even justifying it! Josh can’t take this pressure anymore and shows up at Liam’s house armed with a gun. When Liam answers the door, Josh points the gun at him and tells him to leave them all alone, including Aidan. Liam calmly listens, and demands that Josh leave.

The next evening, there is a knock at the door and Josh and Nora are surprised to see Erin and Liam when they open it. Liam has found Erin roaming the streets and nonchalantly requests that they take care of her. He warns Josh that he better do a better job taking care of his kin than he did of his own. Wonder what Liam has planned with this act of kindness.

Bubble Boy

Aidan is literally starving for blood. He begins to hallucinate that the two ladies he killed in his bedroom last year are now following him everywhere as ghosts. Picking up an extra shift late at night has opened up an opportunity that Aidan can’t refuse. He decides to slowly take viles of blood from the “bubble boy” Kenny that has been quarantined at the hospital. Eventually, Kenny catches on to Aidan and even boldly asks Aidan if he is a vampire. Aidan scoffs at the accusation. Feeling bad for the teen, Aidan sits alongside Kenny to watch a movie. They both fall asleep, but Aidan suddenly wakes up from a bad dream and Kenny is scared out of his wits when he opens his eyes and sees Aidan in vamp mode. Aidan runs for cover while Kenny tries to catch his breath.

Quotable Quotes

Josh to Sally (referring to asking Max out): “And maybe do it before those waffles stick to your hips.”

Nora to Josh (referring to Aidan): “I’m sorry, but I feel like I’m splitting the cable bill with a ticking time bomb.”

Josh to Nora and Aidan: “Wanna play ‘Guess what’s in the sandwich’?”

Sally to Linda: “Slow your roll, Linda!”

Sally to Linda: “Soul-lock, bitch!”

Featured Music

“Ain’t Nobody Else” by Hipbone Slim & The Knee Tremblers bellows the lyrics, “This house is dark” as Sally and Max renew their relationship, and fades into Aidan waking up fully vamped out in front of Kenny.

The song, “Let My Love Weigh You Down” by Early Winters, seductively plays as Sally and Max become intimate in the funeral home.
